Maintenance Manager

BASIC FUNCTION:  This position reports directly to the Site General Manager and supervises the activities of the Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Engineers and the Maintenance Clerks.  S/he will have key internal contacts plant wide and external relationships are with outside contractors, suppliers, and vendors.  
• Establishes and promotes strong safety and environmental compliance behavioral mind set in all maintenance activities among company employees and all contractors who assist in maintenance activities for the site.  
• Maintains and administers a competent force of maintenance personnel; trains, counsels, and appraises performance of personnel; recommends staffing and personnel actions; designs and changes organizational structure with approval of superior; assigns functional duties and reviews periodically with General Manager.  
• Responsible for preparation of budget for the maintenance cost center and production cost center maintenance. Individual will implement the necessary controls to operate within budgeted costs in collaboration with affected departments.  
• Works closely with maintenance planning team to insure that accounting procedures, work order systems, equipment records, and preventive maintenance programs are effective and being implemented as designed. Responsible for long-range planning and execution of maintenance activities relative to turnarounds, expansions, etc.  
• Works closely with Maintenance Supervisors and the Human Resources Department to see that all aspects of personnel policy are equitably administered and that an effective training program for all personnel is established and in effect.  
• Work to standardize site piping and rotating equipment specification system together with Engineering Manager and PSM Manager and provide input into all changes proposed to process equipment and spare part vendor selection.  
• Work with other company manufacturing sites to share best practices for turnaround planning, equipment repairs, preventative/predictive maintenance strategies, and technical training/development of craftspeople  
• The successful candidate will have a minimum 15 years of experience in chemical or maintenance and/or engineering roles of progressive nature.  
• Experience should include managing large-scale turnaround projects from a maintenance standpoint.  
• The candidate will possess strong leadership.  These leadership skills should include an ability to establish and articulate strategic and operating objectives.  
• The position requires an individual that has a Bachelor of Science Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or chemical engineering; or extensive experience in the maintenance of continuous process operating facilities
