Oil- Landman

The Landman will be responsible for all oil and gas inquiries and offers, primarily leasing for the company's mineral ownership.   
You will work closely with the Oil and Gas team to evaluate offers and negotiate deals. 
In addition, this position will be the business lead for internally generated oil and gas prospects, and will be responsible for identifying potential industry partners.   You will also work closely the corporate legal team, to ensure all oil and gas agreements are in alignment with corporate policy. This position will collaborate with the Oil and Gas Team to manage the sale of non-strategic mineral and royalty assets.  

Responsibilities: 
  • Negotiates and manages oil and gas agreements (leases, options, permits
  • Coordinates lease requests from outside companies, and collaborates with the Oil and Gas technical Team to evaluate the geologic potential and maximize deal terms.
  • Business lead for prospect marketing, including market analysis, customer identification, and scheduling of prospect presentations.
  • Collaborates with Operations Team in evaluating performance and compliance with lease contracts.
  • Works closely with the legal team, as the business lead, to help draft new agreements, and to ensure that agreements are in alignment with changing laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages mineral/royalty acquisitions and divestitures and collaborates with Oil and Gas Team regarding valuations and recommendations.
  • Works with Real Estate Team to ensure preservation of mineral assets.
  • Partners with the Oil and Gas Team for the creation of annual budgets and strategic plans.
  • Responsible for the attainment of annual leasing goals and financial objectives within area of responsibility.
  • Displays strong excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Reports to Director, Oil and Gas, Energy and Natural Resources
 
Job Requirements
  • Experience: 10-20 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, with an emphasis on negotiating deals, preferable from a mineral owner stand point, in our producing areas of the Gulf Coast, Mid-Continent, and Appalachia.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Land Management or related field, CPL certification required; JD degree considered a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of oil and gas/mineral law, particularly in our producing areas of Louisiana and Appalachia.  Familiarity with all aspects of oil and gas leasing and operations; including the drafting and modification of various oil and gas agreements. Working knowledge of the oil and gas title process.  Proven background of successful, wide-ranging deal negotiations.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for working effectively with a diverse set of internal and external clients.
