Maintenance Manager

This company is a recognized leader in the North American wood products industry, is searching for a Maintenance Manager to support our state-of-the-art lumber facility in Alabama.  This is a key leadership position in the plants Maintenance and Engineering Department and reports directly to the Mill Manager.

Key Functions
  • Develop and manage all maintenance activities, with the safety of associates being the highest priorit

  • Lead preventive & predictive maintenance/process reliability

  • Drive improvement of key performance indicators, continuous improvement of maintenance functions, and department budget cost effectiveness

  • Facilitate the development and training of associates including coaching, mentoring and development
  • Participate and/or lead initiatives for capital project
  • Assure purchasing functions follow established policies and procedures

  • Lead in supporting, maintaining, and improving processes associated with the computerized maintenance management system for process reliability

  • Identify safety, environmental, quality and production issues

  • Collaborate with the production team to maximize productivity, minimize cost, and reduce waste

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role in an industrial environment
  • A passion for safety and exceptional leadership capability in improving safety performance  
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of electrical, mechanical and PLC programming
  • Proven expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance methods
  • Knowledge of business and financial concepts
  • Demonstrated success in managing capital projects
  • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals
  • Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Proven track record as a leader, demonstrating positive influence and accomplishments in influencing safety, environmental, quality, productivity and people development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, other Windows-based programs and internet skills
  • Willingness to support a 24/7 operating environment, which may include weekend and holiday support as conditions require
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, or related field
  • Wood Products maintenance experience
